Jason Momoa

Long before Hollywood got ahold of Jason Momoa and turned him into a savage warlord and our latest superhero, he was just a kid who grew up the son of an artist from a family of builders and hunters from a small town in Iowa. Raised by a strong single mother, he craved everything his mom opened his eyes to, from art to music to rock climbing and skateboarding.

All of this left a deep sense of adventure in his blood. This is the story of a man hell-bent on remaining that kid - no matter how big he gets or where the world takes him. Because family, “My Ohana” as Jason likes to say, is all that matters to him.

Sons of Sawdust

Chapter 1 - A Defining Moment

Meet Matt and Ben Hobbs. The brothers who, following a series of bad luck and hard times, rose from out of the darkness to start Sons of Sawdust™ - a woodworking business located in Athens, Georgia that specializes in reclaimed wood.

Building on a passion the Hobbs boys say was passed down to them by their late "Pa”, the brothers hunt the local area for old 100+ year-old barns and houses. Properly learning the rich history behind every piece of wood they choose, only to write a new version of the story with every piece of beautiful reclaimed wood furniture they build.

Chapter 2 - A Living Legacy

Much like the wood Matt and Ben Hobbs use to make furniture, how Sons of Sawdust came to be is a reclamation story in itself. With hopelessness setting in following a series of hard times, the brothers drew upon the tools and teachings of their late “Pa” to pull themselves out of darkness, and make life beautiful once again.

Chapter 3 - Remembering Pa

Matt and Ben Hobbs owe it all to their “Pa”. The man who taught the brothers at a young age about repurposing old wood from barns. It was their grandfather, AKA Cecil T. Hall, who showed the boys the meaning of work ethic, and how to use the hand tools that would eventually become their own – including the very same handsaw the brothers used to make the first table they ever sold.

Today, Pa’s legacy lives on through every piece of furniture the Hobbs brothers build. Because Matt and Ben will never forget the grandfather of Sons of Sawdust™.
